FamousM Editorial

Famous Frames Mobile Interactive LogoIt’s been a long time coming. Famous Frames Mobile Interactive (FFMI), a digital “new media” studio for New Hollywood has arrived!

As originally conceived, FFMI is a natural extension of the deep talent roster of Famous Frames, Inc., the country’s largest storyboard artist talent agency. For the past twenty years, our artists have represented a who’s who of creative talent, their influence displayed daily in films, commercials, video games, graphic novels, theme park entertainment and more. FFMI is a showcase for the artist to get out from under the director’s shadow and get the recognition they have deserved.

As we’ve grown and developed, our initial mobile storefront has become a full access digital media studio, capable of producing and acquiring original creative content of all kinds and using our digital delivery platform (nGen), we can distribute New Media across a wide range of broadband and mobile devices. The word in New Hollywood is spreading. While Old Hollywood mires itself in negotiations, striking and threats, digital media emerges to the forefront. While they banter, we accelerate, spreading beyond our creative circles, attracting like-minded talent and resources interested in exploring this new technological terrain.

Over the past year, our production schedule has been full. We’ve hooked up with The Three Stooges (presented on FFMI as The 3D Stooges), bringing back for another run (animatedly!) one of the best, most recognized comic classics of all time. Our South Korean animation partners, Morph Studios/ Independence, are co-producers on CybeRacers, a full-length CGI feature with a style that’s state-of-the-art ‘sci-fi’ graphic novel (think Sin City and Frank Miller!). And we’re just getting going…there’s Famous Frames’ artist, Aaron Sowd & Co., formerly in the employs of Stan Lee’s media gang, bringing us MasterMinds, with the old master himself on board. We are also featuring loveably annoying Guy Henry by Burpo and Duff Clawson Studio’s film noir ride, The Lucky Shop of Xao Fung. Both projects display the quality, passion and vision that Famous Frames is known for.

Our studio’s animated time released series will be premiering this February along with previews of great things to come. By spring, our “Famous TV” and “Famous Mobile” channels will be operating with a host of Web 2.0 features, connecting the Famous universe of creativity, fan and events.

Launching later this year are “The Famous Store”, our virtual 3D marketplace, inspired by L.A.’s Westside Pavilion, but without the congestion. Also “You Get Famous” and “Famous Space” where talent can submit their work for peer-to-peer evaluation, recognition and financial rewards! FFMI’s winning the 2007 “Best Of Show” at Hollywood’s Mobile Entertainment Summit is a peek of things to come. This and many more stories detailing our adventures (and fantasies) in the uncharted New Media frontier are captured in our premiere issue of “Famous-M”.

So after all the delays and alternate paths taken, we’re here at last. Maybe it took the WGA strike to serve notice that the curtain has fallen on the old Hollywood way of doing business and nothing’s going to stop this new show from going on.

For those still wondering what “new media” is all about… quite simply, new media empowers the consumer. It enables us to decide what we want to watch and listen to… when we want to… where we want it… and how we want it. From the widest plasma TV screens to PCs to mobile phones, new media is everywhere.

“New media” also allows undiscovered sources of creative talent to distribute their works without the big budget “it’s-who-you-know” barriers of the old major studio system. FFMI’s nGen distribution platform powers up this process by allowing greater artistic control and profit participation. In the end what new media comes down to is an immediate interaction between you and your audience. The result is a whole new world of creativity, communication, interaction and anytime, anyplace connection.

We still have a long way to go. FFMI welcomes your comments and participation. Together we can take entertainment where it’s never been before. Enjoy the show!
